Welcome to Your New Life
What really happens when you give your life to Jesus? Is it just about believing, or is something deeper taking place? The Bible says that when you accept Christ, you become a new creation—but what does that mean for your identity, your purpose, and your future?
What It Means to Be a Child of God
When you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord, the Bible says the angels in Heaven began throwing a party in honor of you. It’s true! God’s word says in Luke 15, there is great rejoicing in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.
So when you asked Jesus to forgive your sins and become your Lord and Savior, you became a child of God, part of the family of God… a Christian. John, one of Jesus’ original disciples, wrote in John 1:12, “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right…” Another translation says:
“He gave the power to become the sons of God, even to those who believe in His name.”
Christianity is not just another religion. It’s a personal relationship with a living God! God is real. He is alive. He loves you. This amazing love was demonstrated when He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to earth to die for your sins on the cross.
And because God loves you and He knows you, He wants you to know and love Him. When Jesus was asked about which commandment in the Bible was the most important, He said without hesitation in Matthew 22:37,
“Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.”
The Difference Between Religion and Relationship
Being a Christian isn’t about rules and regulations. It’s not about man’s manipulation in your life— it’s about RELATIONSHIP. That’s why God has given you the Bible. He’s given you the Bible to help you know more about Him so you can develop an intimate personal relationship with Him as your Heavenly Father. And that’s why the Bible is the most important book that you will ever read.
Think of this as God’s voice to you. He speaks to you through His Word. As you read the Bible, you’re going to discover it’s full of rich, wonderful truths that will help you live successfully in this life and in the life to come. The more you read and meditate on God’s Word, the stronger your relationship with Him becomes.
