Your Attitude Through Trials Matters
(Based on Episode 1 “Your Attitude Through Trials Matters” with Cristina Baker)
What You’ll Learn:
Have you ever felt like just surviving a trial was enough? God sees it differently. In this session, Cristina Baker shows how your attitude in the trial—not just your actions—is deeply important to God.
God Cares About Your Posture in the Pain
We often ask God to get us through hard seasons. But have you ever considered that how you go through a trial matters just as much? Scripture shows us that God isn’t only focused on the outcome—He’s deeply interested in the posture of your heart in the midst of the journey.
When Cain’s offering wasn’t accepted, God’s first focus wasn’t on getting Cain’s giving up to speed. Instead, He asked Cain this question:
“Why has your countenance fallen?” (Genesis 4:6)
God didn’t just care about Cain’s actions. He cared about his attitude.
What the Bible Shows Us About Heart Posture
-
Moses: The Cost of Frustration
In Numbers 20, Moses was told to speak to the rock so water would flow for the people. Instead, in frustration, he struck the rock and harshly rebuked the Israelites. Even though water came forth, Moses’ attitude and disobedience cost him the chance to enter the Promised Land.
- He acted out of anger.
- He misrepresented God to the people.
- He let pressure override obedience.
God is merciful—but even leaders are accountable for how they carry their calling under pressure.
-
Paul: Joy in Chains
The apostle Paul said it this way in Philippians 1:18:
I will continue to rejoice.
He wasn’t sitting in comfort when he wrote those words. He was in prison in chains, surrounded by filth.
And yet joy flowed from his heart. Why?
Because his faith wasn’t tied to his circumstances. It was anchored in God’s character and purpose. When we’re centered on God, we respond differently.
Paul trusted God—and because of that, he wasn’t worried about getting out of prison. He could already praise God because he knew He was working good right in the middle of it all.

You: Strength Through Surrender
Sometimes your breakthrough doesn’t come after the storm passes. It comes when your heart yields to God in the middle of it.
The Holy Spirit can help you:
- Respond with surrender, not resistance
- Recognize God’s presence in the pain
- Develop spiritual resilience and peace
- Let go of “just surviving” and learn to grow
As Cristina shares:
God is not the just the God of the destination. He’s the God of the journey.
Reflection Question:
Where is God inviting you to shift your posture—from surviving to surrendering—in the middle of a current challenge?
Prayer:
Lord, help me walk through trials with a heart that honors Yours. Give me peace, strength, and joy even when life feels overwhelming. Align my posture with Your presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thank you Jesus for your patience and grace even though many times I ran away from your hands but still you remain faithful to me. Please forgive me for not surrendering my pains and sufferings and facing it all by myself. I pray that I will be more joyful facing trials and hardships along the way and continue to be faithful to you no matter what. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Amen! He meets us where we are.
Thank you Jesus for giving me this message while I am having a hard time at work. I love you Lord and surrender this all to you. I know it is time to move on- just lead me to the place that I should go. I can’t do this under my own power, but you Lord will lead me on the right path. I am transitioning to a new season. Thank you Lord it is done!
Amen!
