Rooted in the Word
Have you ever felt like your faith was on shaky ground? Maybe you struggle to know what’s true, or you feel uncertain about God’s promises in difficult times. The Bible is more than just a book of wisdom—it’s your foundation, the written Word of God. And Jesus Himself? He is the living Word. In this session, David Cerullo teaches you how a strong, unshakable faith starts with being rooted in the Word of God. Let’s explore what that looks like for your life.
Are You Standing on a Firm Foundation—or Something Shaky?
When you consult a physician, you want to have the assurance he or she knows what they’re talking about. We expect doctors to be able to tell us how to better prevent disease, relieve pain, treat sickness, and stay healthy and fit. We want them to have plenty of experience in the field, but they also need to have the appropriate training.
You would never go see a doctor who had never been to medical school, never studied the books, and hadn’t kept current with the latest advances in research. How equipped would that person be to successfully help people? The answer is, they wouldn’t.
The Bible and Jesus: What It Means to Know the Word
The same applies to us as Christians. We can have all the “field experience” in the world, but if we haven’t studied The Book … if we aren’t relying on the authoritative manual …we will not be successful in living an abundant life.
You can quote all kinds of wonderful philosophy and noble thoughts about God all day long, but if you’re not rooted in His Word, it doesn’t mean a thing.
There is no way around it. Our Christian life must be built on the foundation of the Word of God.
So how do we start to build the foundation of our lives on the Word of God?
How to Strengthen Your Faith by Rooting It in Scripture
There are two applications in Scripture of the title “the Word of God.” One is to the Bible itself and the other is to Jesus Christ.
In John 1:1-5 we see:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Then later in verse 14 of the same chapter we read:
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
This passage of Scripture is referring to Jesus Himself.
You see, the Bible is the written Word of God. Jesus is the personal, living Word of God.
If you want a right relationship with Jesus, you must have a right relationship with the Bible. A right relationship with God’s Word will transform every area of your life.
No matter what you may be struggling with, you can find hope, strength, peace, restoration, healing … everything you need … in God’s Word.
