Faith starts with a real relationship. In this session, you’ll learn who God is, how to grow closer to Him, and why that relationship changes everything.

Intro: A Relationship That Changes Everything

In a world full of noise, stress, and questions, what really matters? Your relationship with Christ is the one that changes everything.

Jesus said in John 17:3:

This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Eternal life isn’t just about heaven—it’s about knowing God today. But how do you build a relationship with someone you can’t see? What does that even look like?

Who Is God—and How Does He Relate to You?

God is our source, and His Word—the Bible—is one of the main ways we get to know Him. As we share Bible verses in this Starting Strong course, we encourage you to follow along in your own Bible or in a Bible app like Bible Gateway.

The Bible tells us that God is one—yet He reveals Himself in three persons:

• God the Father created you and has a purpose for your life (Romans 8:28–30).
• Jesus the Son came to earth to save you and show you how to live (Romans 5:8).
• The Holy Spirit lives in you and helps you follow God daily (John 14:26).

This is called the Trinity. You don’t have to fully understand it to be changed by it. These three persons of God work in perfect unity to redeem, guide, and love you.

How Do You Grow Closer to Jesus?

A relationship grows through time, attention, and trust. The same is true with Jesus.
Here are three ways to build your walk with Him:

• Pray – Talk to God. Tell Him your heart and listen for His voice.
• Read the Bible – God speaks through His Word. It teaches you who He is and what He wants for you.
• Join Christian community – God never meant for you to follow Him alone. Find other Bible-believing Christians who can help you grow.

We’ll explore each of these more in upcoming sessions.

What Changes When You Know Jesus?

Your relationship with Christ transforms every part of life:

1. Your Relationships

“Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34).

God teaches you how to love people with patience, grace, and kindness.

2. Your Purpose

“You are God’s masterpiece…created to do good things” (Ephesians 2:10).

You begin to see your worth and calling through God’s eyes—not the world’s.

3. Your Strength

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

Even when life is hard, Jesus gives you peace, courage, and hope.

You’re no longer defined by your past or limited by your own abilities. In Christ, you have access to the Holy Spirit, who help you live out your faith daily (Romans 8:11).

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for loving me. Help me build a real relationship with You—not just with my words, but with my heart and actions. Teach me to walk with You every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
